My Hero - Dr. Gandhi !

My first follow up appointment went very well with Dr. Gandhi.
I am almost back to my birth weight, my scar is healing well, blood pressure looked good, chest X-ray clear, and my oxygen levels were good. Although Dr. Gandhi didn't believe Mom when he asked if we got a pulse-ox monitor for home. We really didn't, but Mom, Dad, Grandma and Granpa Patridge watched me very closely the first few nights. Sorry it took so long for an update, but my technical guru, Dad was unable to take any sick days for my stay at Childrens Hospital. Instead he had to use almost all of his vacation days, and had to go back to work this week. I do not recommend the two week vacation at Childrens Hospital. The room accomodations are terrible and cafeteria food gets old after the first 4 or 5 meals. Hopefully we can all rest and have some good family time this weekend. I hope Grandma and Grandpa Patridge hurry back, so Mom and Dad quit walking around here like zombies.

P.S. I found out that my little buddy Fisher Herzog was able to go home as well. Sounds like he recovered quickly from his surgery just like me. Mom and Dad were also glad to hear from Tate Coopers family that he had made it home also. Tate's parents were very comforting about my surgery and Dr. Gandhi, because they had been through it about 3 years ago. I do have one last request about a little girl Hadley from Auburn she is about one week older than me, and as it turns out her Grandpa Hemberger had painted a tractor for my Grandpa Ratliff. She was born with a heart problem as well, but her condition is quite serious and would be very risky for her to have surgery. I believe they quoted 50/50 for her to survive. So she and her family are currently waiting for a heart transplant. Our prayers go out to them.

Hey little man! We have been thinking of you. Your cousin, Brenna, cannot wait to see you! She loves seeing all your pictures. We are also happy to hear that you are doing so well. You are an inspiration for so many! Continue to rest, eat, and get stronger. We can't wait to see you, but we are unsure of when we will be down. Make sure to put on your calendar that Gavin's 1st b-day party is Sat., May 24th. He will want to drool over you! He's the drool king right now with teething! Well, we love you! Hugs and Kisses!

Love, Aunt Lori, Uncle Matt, Brenna and Gavin

Thrilled to hear about the great checkup; Dr. Gandhi looks pretty proud of his handiwork! :)  As well he should be.  Love the new pictures. Think Dad needs to have a "heart-to-heart" with someone at Walgreens...just not right! We're so thankful that God has blessed people like him with such talent and caring hands.  Tell Mom, Dad, Cydne and Kaden hello for us, Love,Mike & Karen

Mornin' Ratliffs!

Thankful on this Lord's Day that God has brought you through so much and you've been home for a week. And, for Madox's little buddies who have made progress too!

I'm keeping updated through Ken's phone conversations with you and the blog. Keeping you in my prayers as Kurt returned to work, everyone adjusts to the routine of being home, and as Madox has several appts. this week.

With each new day, may you sense the ongoing prayers of many who love you and are continuing to pray you through.

Kurt - Isn't CVS hiring? We'll keep our eyes open for opportunities! Businesses should be more compassionate regarding our families and life's unexpected twists! Thank GOD that you were wise and picked a wonderful wife providing you with such faithful inlaws. I am glad they are available to help Jen while you go back to work. Your children are gorgeous! I am so glad everyone looked so good and happy to be home together! I think mine and Lance's visit was more for me than you guys, but I had to give you guys a real hug not a virtual email hug!! Happy (3 week old) Birthday, Madox!

Hope you and your family are getting along okay!

Hey, I saw your big sister and brother Sunday morning at Sunday School and KIDS Church (and your gr'parents too!). You should have seen their eyes and face light up when I asked about YOU! They love you so much and are soooo proud of you!

Some day soon you'll be strong and well enough to come to church! Before ya know it, you'll be learning all about God too!

Of course, you've been a wonderful example of how awesome God is! He has already shown you and many other His power!

What a wonderful outcome from such a frightening start. God is good...and Dr. Ghandi ain't too bad, himself. We praise God and thank the doctor. And we continue to pray for you, your parents, your siblings and your grandparents. And for you buddies - - who have become real friends of the heart.

Jen and Kurt,
Glad to hear all is going so well. We had technical difficulties for a while around the smith house. (Our hard drive crashed and we were without a computer for almost a week!! Impossible to believe we used to function without these things!) Tamra D kept me posted. Said you sounded so good when you talked. Take care. Thinking of you and yours always.
