No Time to Rest

I am still not producing much urine, they gave me some Diuril to help a little more to get me going pee. That seemed to help a little more with urination (we've had 23ml at last check). They have decreased by Dopamine drip, I have been started on a Milrinone drip to dialate my capilaries to help increase blood flow to my fingers and toes. I have been a little slow coming off the ventilator, because I have been slow waking up after the fentanyl drip was stopped. However, Dr. Gandhi has stopped in to check on me and he still wants me off the ventilator. He says that I am being lazy, and still plan on having it off tonight. I have been on D101/4NS with KCl for my nutrition (otherwise know as 10% Dextrose 0.22% Normal Saline with Potassium Chloride). But the plans are for me to eat through a NG tube by tomorrow. As for Mom and Dad, Casey and Jen Finley brought them their mail, some extra clothes and took them out to eat at Applebees for lunch. I will keep you all informed as my day progresses.

Some of us can't turn it off (that's from Mrs. Rita) - some can't get it going. You hang in there it will all start up soon and then they will want you to cut back...never satisfied! As for you being lazy - not a chance. You are just storing up your energy for the days ahead with Cyd and Kaden. Glad your parents got out for a little break - the sun is out here and really warm. Keep up the good work and cooperate with those in charge.

Hey guys,
I'm back in Peoria, but my heart and mind are still with you in St.Louis. I'm so glad you got some fresh air out of the hospital for a short while. As you know, Madox is being monitored every single second, so PLEASE take a little time for yourselves. Jen, you know when you hurt, I hurt, and I wish I could speed this process up for you guys, but the Big Guy upstairs has his own plans and reasons. So day by day, you'll get thru this.

I REALLY love this blog! I want to thank every single person who has blogged and who will blog. I'm not sure we could've fit one more family member/friend in the reserved Ratliff surgery waiting room yesterday, but everybody else was there through this blog. You could seriously feel the love and prayers coming right thru the computer! It was really awesome. Liz, thanks so much for setting this up, and I know Kurt will not let us down with the updates since he's a professional blogger now! Kurt, you really have done a fantastic job.

Jen, did DP see you sprinting back from Madox's room yesterday when the surgery pager went off? He would've been so proud! I hope your body is not paying for that today. With your continuous determination, ambition and overflowing love, I know you'll be crossing the finish line (bringing Madox home) in record time. Then you'll be starting the new (RAT)liff race with your party of five. I'm visualizing something like Cydne asking one of her jillion and one brainiac questions which for sure would have to be google searched, while Kaden is simultaneously creating freestyle pasta artwork on the nearest wall after he's already parachuted all of his laundry off the upstairs balcony, which of course will be the same time that Madox poopies his diaper and needs to be fed!!! That's the race I'm waiting to see! I LOVE YOU!!

Talk to you guys soon. I'll probably be heading out around 8am tomorrow morning with Eric.

Love, Lisa, Eric, Carter & Karly

Madox,
As Cydne and Kaden's favorite prayer begins--God is GREAT! God is GOOD! We truly know the meaning of these words. God's arms were around you and your family giving them strength starting at Springfield Memorial. Your doctors and nurses were so caring and efficient helping you arrive at Children's Hospital by Kidcopter.

Children's Hospital--AMAZING! God's presence is in this place. It is very evident in the lives of the Dr.s, nurses, and staff who were constantly reminding us while attending to your physical needs--they were also praying for you.

Madox, we took an important message while you were out of your CICU room receiving your transpositions from Dr. Gandhi's skilled hands. It was from God reminding you of the poem "Footprints in the Sand." Not only is He caring for you--he is also carrying you. He is wrapping his loving arms around you and your entire family and will continue to do so.

So just remember while you have ME (God), you also have your friends and family and especially immediate family--Kaden, Cydne, Mom and Dad who will direct and carry you throughout your life.

We love you!!!

To our "littliest" buddy,
Grandma and Grandpa Patridge
