Whoa!!

Still peeing, but actually just about catching up to my inputs. Doctors monitor Inputs and Outputs (I&Os). All liquids going in, which is mainly his IVs at this point, but will also include anything by mouth should equal anything coming out mainly pee and poop when he starts taking stuff by mouth. The Lasix drip and the Diuril they gave me made my outputs better (made me pee), but in doing so it made my potassium levels go down. So I got a Potassium IV to fix that. My Blood Pressure is staying up and the Dopamine drip was stopped this morning. The Lasix drip was also stopped. Yesterday the doctor wasn't sure when or if I would be getting a feeding tube. Hooray!! NO feeding tube up my nose instead I get breast milk, be it from a bottle it is still the best nutrition I could get. This was a surprise to me and Mom, I still can't be held but at least everything is going in the right direction.

What a PRAISE! You just keep going from strength to strength. You must have a very strong will and you must be a fighter. For now that's good. (Later on, Mom and Dad may have their hands full with you but for now, your spirit is saving your life - - so fight on, Little Man.)

Look at you! You are even surprising the doctors!!! You know that is a good sign! Keep it up! Enjoy eating from that bottle, which is much better than an NG tube! Hugs and kisses!

Dan and Mary (I will try this again, the first one is out there in cyperspace!). I know you are keeping everything and everyone together. Hang in there. Keep coaching everyone like they are running the mile and you are blowing that "LOUD" whistle yelling only one more lap, little guy,(and mom and dad) you can do it. Actually, if you remember, you didn't need a whistle, you just yelled! What is easier, keeping track of 70 junior high track kids or your family?

Thanks for the blog. This is wonderful. I don't have to yell at Karen "Have you heard from Mary". We are missing you here at school and looking forward to your return. Take care of all the family and wish them the best. You will all be together at home before you know it and it will be one big (loud) joyful welcome home party. You are always in our prayers and the topic of all conversations. Thankfully Karen always have good news to tell us. Take care while traveling.

Great work Ratliffs!!
I am looking forward to you all getting home (I quite certain not as much as you all) so I can get some work done again. As it turns out this blogging business can be pretty time consuming.

Madox, Kurt, Jen and Family,
Apparently you had quite an adventure on my week off. I'm glad to hear everyone is doing well and the situation is improving. He is so cute and apparently a tough little boy. John and I will keep you in our thoughts and prayers. Hopefully you'll be back at home soon and life can get back to normal (as normal as life can be with 3 kids that is...)

Good Morning Ratliffs!
So glad to hear that your little guy Madox is doing so well. His birth announcement was posted at daycare along with a notice of his trip to the Childrens Hospital in St. Louis. I can only imagine how exhausted you all are. Thanks so much for keeping us posted with this blog site. I love seeing the pictures of the kids and your cute little baby boy! Sounds like you have quite the support system, with no shortage of hugs and kisses! We will be thinking of you. Take Care.

Hey Madox,
Good to hear the good news, keep it up.

Barbie/Lance,
Not shaved, just short - short enough mowing the yard has become hazardous without a hat.

Heading to Vegas on Sunday, but considering my track record, I doubt many people will want me gambling on their behalf. Just ask my wife.

Madox, If Uncle Ken feels he needs to place bets in Vegas, I will allow them to be on you!! I'll bet you'll be headed home before he will. And I'll also bet if this trip is like the one we have not so fond memories of, you'll need to be out of that hospital bed to make room for him to be in it!!!

Joking aside, you are amazing!! The strength you have displayed is out of this world and very inspiring. Keep doing what you are doing. You seem to have great instincts!!!

Kurt and Jen- I am so relieved for you. I know it still must seem like home is a long way off, but look at him go!! What a kid!! God blessed you with 3 children with strength that is amazing, each strong in ways that are unique to themselves. (You thought the last one kept you on your toes!) Hang in there and get some rest. Taking care of Mom and Dad is important too!

I'll keep praying and thinking all the best for you!! See you soon!
